What is potassium alum?

Potassium alum is a natural sulfate mineral which typically appears as encrustations on rocks in areas of weathering, and where the oxidation of sulfide minerals and potassium-bearing minerals occur. Natural potassium alum is commonly used in organic deodorants and aftershave treatments.

How does potassium alum work post shave?
Potassium alum acts as an astringent with styptic qualities to reduce the bleeding from small shaving cuts or nicks, it coagulates the blood and seals small blood vessels. An astringent used after cleansing temporarily tightens the skin, shrinks the pores and removes oil. It is also useful as an antiseptic.

How To Use:

The Proraso After Shave Stone is best used after shaving. Simply rinse your face with cold water and run the stone on your face. Let it work for a few seconds, then rinse with lukewarm water. This process cools, soothes, tones, and tightens the skin, whilst reducing redness and irritation.

Potassium alum VS Synthetic aluminium

Potassium alum is a naturally occurring mineral salt that contains aluminum. Aluminum itself is a naturally occurring element found in the earth's crust.

However, some forms of aluminum can also be produced synthetically. Some forms of synthetic aluminum, such as aluminum chlorohydrate and aluminum zirconium, are commonly used in antiperspirant deodorants.

Natural potassium alum is not absorbed by the skin, while the synthetic aluminum compounds in antiperspirants are absorbed and clog sweat ducts to reduce sweat production.

Natural potassium alum is considered to be safe for use on the skin, while concerns have been raised about the potential health risks associated with the use of synthetic aluminum-based antiperspirants, including the potential link to breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease.

1. How does shipping work?

We ship Australia wide and to New Zealand.

We offer various delivery options in Australia for standard items which you can select when you checkout to complete your order. For bulky items such as furniture a fixed freight charge may apply. For bulky items the product will display any fixed price shipping charge and this will be added automatically to your order if applicable.

For orders over $250 there is a free freight option which can be selected when checking out. You can also choose express options for faster delivery. Note all prices include GST.

** We offer same day dispatch for orders received before 1:00pm on a normal business day only when Express Priority freight option is selected.** If Regular Delivery option is selected your order normally will be dispatched within 24-48 hours after placing your order.

We endeavor to carry all standard advertised items in stock, however if there are stock shortfalls preventing immediate dispatch of your order, we will contact you if there will be any extended delays to advise and offer options.

Australia

Our default couriers are TNT Express/Fedex and Australia Post. Once your order is consigned you should receive tracking details via email throughout the journey of your order to its destination. If you do not receive any notifications within a reasonable time of placing your order please email us at info@barberco.com.au quoting your order number to request a personal update.

1.1 Regular Delivery. For orders under $250 the following charges will apply:

              a. Order value up to $99.99 a charge of $11.95 will apply

              b. Order value $100.00 - $250.00 a charge of $15.95 will apply

Delivery timeframes are between 2 – 6 business days depending on your location. Allow extra time for remote locations.

1.2 Express Priority. For orders under $250.00 the following charges will apply:

              a. Order value up to - $99.99 a charge of $14.95 will apply

              b. Order value $100.00 - $249.99 a charge of $17.95 will apply

              c. Order value $250.00 and over a charge of $19.95 will apply

Delivery timeframes are between 1 – 4 business days depending on your location. Allow extra time for remote locations.

We reserve the right to recalculate and request extra charges if freight does not calculate within reasonable estimates for bulky items or dangerous goods especially to remote locations.

New Zealand

We ship to all areas in New Zealand. Freight is calculated at checkout and will depend on items purchased.

DHL Express is our chosen freight company. Typically freight times are between 2 – 7 days depending on your location.

Note we cannot ship dangerous goods such as aerosols and some liquids to New Zealand. It is not cost effective to freight furniture to New Zealand, however we can provide sea freight options on application.

2. Returns Policy including Defects

2.1 The Buyer shall inspect the Goods on delivery and shall within seven (7) days of delivery notify the Seller in writing of any alleged defect, shortage in quantity, damage or failure to comply with the description or quote. The Buyer shall afford the Seller an opportunity to inspect the Goods within a reasonable time following delivery if the Buyer believes the Goods are defective in any way. If the Buyer shall fail to comply with these provisions, the Goods shall be conclusively presumed to be in accordance with the terms and conditions and free from any defect or damage.

2.2 For Goods which the Seller has agreed in writing that the Buyer is entitled to reject, the Seller’s liability is limited to either (at the Seller’s discretion) replacing the Goods or repairing the Goods provided that:

(a) the Buyer has complied with the provisions of clause 8.1;

(b) the Goods are returned at the Buyer’s cost by the Seller’s designated carrier within seven (7) days of the delivery date;

(c) The invoice number and date of purchase are stated;

(d) the Seller will not be liable for Goods which have not been stored or used in a proper manner or for any purpose other than as intended by the Seller;

(e) the Goods are returned in the condition in which they were delivered and with all packaging material, brochures and instruction material in as new condition as is reasonable possible in the circumstances.

2.3 The Seller may (in its discretion) accept the Goods for credit but this may incur a handling fee of 15% of the value of the returned Goods plus any freight.

 

3. Warranty

3.1 The warranty shall be the current warranty provided by the manufacturer of the Goods. The Seller shall be under no liability whatsoever, except for the express conditions as detailed and stipulated in the manufacturers warranty.

3.2 In most circumstances the goods will need to be returned to the manufacturer for assessment prior to any warranty determination.

3.3 In the first instance if you suspect your item has a fault, please email us at info@barberco.com.au with details of fault, original order number and a short video detailing and displaying the fault. We will then determine next steps via email to resolve your issue.
